JPP cover 2023
The image of flowers of Solanum pinnatisectum, a wild potato species native to central Mexico, infected with GFP expressing Potato virus X(PVX) has been selected for the 2023 cover of the Journal of Plant Physiology.
Tagging the PVX with a Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) allows monitoring of the movement and hence the systemic spreading of the virus in infected plants. The autofluorescence of flower petals and chlorophyll is depicted in blue and red respectively, whereas GFP fluorescence can be seen in green. The image was provided by Rabih Mehdi and Julia Eydam.
